Jim began his art in 1989. He started in oils and soon went to watercolor. His first class in watercolor was under Ed Shay at Arrowmont in Gatlinburg. Since then he has painted under Liz Yaroz, Jerry Cutler, Rob Erdle in the states and international artists as Tom Lynch, Greg Allen and Bob Wade. He has viewed paintings in major art galleries such as the Prado in Madrid Spain, the Uffizi in Florence, Italy and the Louvre in Paris. He has visited the National Gallery of art in Washington, the Baltimore museum of art and the Boston art museum as well as art museums in Phoenix, Atlanta, Albuquerque and other cities. He has attended various workshops in pastel, drawing, oil and watercolor.

Jim has held several offices in the Morristown Art Association where he continues as an active member. He has conducted several workshops including a watercolor workshop for the Girls Club and continues workshops in Pleine Aire painting. He has won several awards and continues to sell paintings if someone wants them.

Jim is a retired pharmacist who resides in Morristown and continues his art as a form of release from stress and for personal expression.
